4) I can't have lunch with you today because I have a commitment with a client.
5) You don't like meat. I don't like fish. Well let's compromise: let's eat pasta!

ResponderExcluirI choose sentence number 4 to translate in order to emphasize the small meaning difference between commitment and appointment.
Commitment consists of a moral obligation while appointment refers to scheduled date.
Here is the translation:
"Eu não posso almoçar com você hoje porque tenho um compromisso com um cliente."

I´ve chosen the first one just because I didn´t know the expression. Here is my translation:
"Que absurdo! Vir à minha casa depois de tudo que ele fez!"
And I´d like to know how you translate the sentence #2. The reason is that I didn´t get it right !!

I choose the sentence number 5 to translate, because I'm newly married and it is very commom to have some problems to compromise with each other.

Você não gosta de carne. Eu não gosto de peixe. Bem, cheguemos a um acordo: vamos comer massa!
“compromise” means a solution for which both sides give in a little.
