  2. Hello, everyone.

Well, I'm not a movie buff, but someone that really likes intelligent plots.

What blew me away in AVATAR was not the story - which is a repetition of previous plots, but the amazing technical and computerized details - like the paraplegic war veteran, Jake Sully's (Sam Worthington)tiny legs which made me wonder if they weren't true. It deserves to take some Oscar statuettes - especially for Visual Effects or Cinematography

But a story that really stroke me was the Argentinian El Secreto de tus Ojos for Foreign Language Film. The confrontation of the 1970's dictorial government and justice, with bizarre love and criminal stories. The Acting of Ricardo Darin (Benjamin Espósito) and Soledad Villamil (Irene) were great in their characters as federal justice agent and department chief - respectively. Also tragic-comic was Benjamin's assistant Pedro Sandoval(Guillermo Francella). Really worth seeing it and I give my vote to it.

UP is another great Pixar production and really deserves to take the Osar Statuette for Animated Feature. The plot is a well-mixed combination of realism and surrealism.

Plots that call my attention and I want to see are: A Serious Man, An Education, Precious, and Up in the Air.

What about you? Hope to see your participation here!

  3. Hi everybody,

I´ve already seem some of the film nominees and, as expected, Avatar will take the great majority of statuettes. From the nominees for Best Film(s), I will recommend An Education, Precious and, of course, Avatar. An Education is a very good movie, with a good plot and with good perfomances of the characters, specially Peter Sarsgaard, Alfred Molina and Carey Mulligan. Precious - The first and remarkable performance of Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) is a good reason to see this film. The plot is intense, involving psychological aspects of the bad treatment received by the teenager. I think Gabourey will take the best actress statuette.
The visual effects of Avatar made me feel like a child. I loved it ! I ´ll bet at least 3 statuettes for it : visual effects, makeup, art direction.
Apart from the films mentioned above, I do recommend “El secreto de tus ojos”, nominee for Best Foreign Language film.
I´m not a movie buff but I really like to go to the movies.
Have you seen any of the films mentioned? I´d like to hear from you.
    See you around,
    Lígia

  4. Hi teacher

I also want to give my opinion on the movies. I couldn't watch all yet, but the two I watched, I loved !

One was "Avatar", the visual effects were wonderful, is really an unforgettable film with a fantastic and creative plot.
I also liked the details of the forest light, I really loved it.

Wheareas the animated "UP" won my heart, as it is a beautiful story. I was amazed by the care and fidelity with which the production team developed this animation.

I hope I have expressed myself well!

    kisses

  5. Hi everybody,

    I'm Pedro, an electrical enginner.

I haven't seen any film yet but I am very curious to see "The Blind Side" - I think it is a good plot.

The Oscar's party is a big event and shows us the American way of life. It's like to cover the Earth layer with thin paper against the sun effects. A little fun to forget the reality.

Have a good party and let the best win !

    Regards,

    Pedro.
