PIPA, SOPA? What do they mean to the world, to my professional and personal life?

Dearest all,

Let's share your opinion, until it's still legal (LOL!), on this blog page, as we never know until when our own opinions will be themselves copied and considered a threat to the Intelectual Property legal world.

Jokes apart, this is serious business and I invite you all to post your comments (remember, A+1 comments) on the issue. Below, you'll see video links and reading material to be more up-to-date.

Hope you all enjoy taking part in this discussion.

Look forward to your post here. Let's practice English giving meaning to your ideas!!

Best regards,

Flávia

  1. As I'm a person that works with Compliance issues and agree that the laws are good to organize the societies, the cost of organization can't freeze all systems (government, individual and legal entities, judicial, IT, etc.).
The laws should go in parallel with the evolution and societies' necessities. One of them is to have freedom of expression and the free access to any content, so that people can choose what they want.
If SOPA is published without amendments or improvements, that is to say the same as the Bill is, we, the web users, will be the victims of the censorship, the same way it's applied to TV, where the Media choose what and when we can see or know about.
Therefore, "say no to SOPA" as I do, Camila Bernardo.

  2. Hello, everyone.

We are psychologists from INPD (National Institute of Development Psychiatry) and we are exposing our opinions about this subject, ok?

I'm Mariana Cintra and I agree with Camila about people choosing what they want to see on the internet, but these Bills were created because the abuse was recurrent with this kind of communication. We have a lot of uncareful and unethical people. I think that the law can be studied better, in order not to be so radical. We are going to have several problems.

I'm Mariana Hernandes and I agree with both girls; also this measure is overeactive! When we talk about billions of pleople, we can't be so extremist, like "eight or eighty". They could find a midway: neither 100% prohibited, nor 100% allowed. We have to say our opinion.. or everything will continue this way.. imposed top-down. =\

Hi, I'm Lucineide Silva and what think I about SOPA? It´s important to have access to a lot of information to everybody, but some can be at the same time illegal, harming some people´s real production (movies, cds, books, etc. It´s important to control this information but how can we do it? It isn´t an easy idea. What is your opinion?
