Hello everyone,
ResponderExcluirMy name is Joseane and I'm an investiment consultant for an insurance company.
I watched Roma on Netflix and I think the story is really touching. The movie dramatizes a story of a middle class family in conflict, who lives in a Mexican district called Roma, in the 70's.
What attracted my attention was the nice relationship between the madam and their 2 housekeepers. The housekeeper Cleo had a fantastic relationship with the children.
Roma has many Oscar nominations, bu I believe it has chances to win the Writing Original Screenplay category because it protrays the reality of Mexico in the 70's, showing their culture and their way of living.
Because the movie is made in black-and-white and good promps (the car models, the house furniture, for example), Roma has possibilities to win either the Cinematography or the Production Design categories.
Have you seen the movie? Which categories do you think will win? Do you agree with me?
Kisses,
Josy
Hello Josy, My name is Mariana and I´m also a student of Audio and Video technical course at FECAP.
ExcluirI also watched Roma and I really liked it, because I guess the cinematography is very nice ( I agree with you Josy), I paid attention to the camera angle and in my opinion the essential angle is the establishing shot (a view of the full scenario), for example when Cleo starts cleaning the house, the camera focuses on her movement and her work. In my opinion this is very good, it shows to us her living way; she lives just for the family. In her "real" life she is very naive.
The Favorite has more chance to win Production Design
because when we have a medieval time, sci-fi or fantasy story, the production needs to be more creative and more beautiful.
Roma will win just the Cinematography nomination.
What do you think about this?
Hello Everyone,
ResponderExcluirMy name is Adriana and I'm a journalist and have worked at Valor Econômico.
I already watched Vice, The star is born, Roma and Geen Book. To me, Vice should win the best movie in 2018 because the main character performed by Christian Bale was phenomenal and unpredictable as Dick Chenney. The most interesting point was the make-up effects and the passiveness of his facial expressions to show what he was feeling. At the same time, the acting interaction with Amy Adams, who played his wife Lynne, is convincente and natural. Even though we know the story end, we can be surprised with some parts of the plot, mainly because the diretor showed us subtleties about the character.
On the other hand, I strongly believe thar "Star is born" is overated and artificial because the diretor used cliches to provoke emotions. Probably, the movie will be awarded for Original Song: "Shallow", no doubt the only good side of the story.
I don't know if you have the same opinion, but, anyway, don't you believe that Vice should win?
Hi Adriana,
ExcluirMy name is Denis and I'm IT Director at PwC.
I agree with you about Vice as I believe that Christian Bale deserves the Oscar award for Best Leading role.
Referring to Star is born, yes the film sometimes uses some cliches to arise strong emotions and make you cry [;)]. However, I think there is a very strong artistic appeal, and you can see this on the screen with the performance of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper songs. In relation to the plot, it is not very well-crafted, but the movie is very well made. I believe "A Star is born" has good chances also to win the Best Actress Leading Role.
I really liked to read about your critical thoughts. What did you think about my opinion?
Hello, my name is Elisa and I'm a radiologist doctor.
ResponderExcluirI have watched A Star is Born and Bohemian Rapsody. I believe the latter has much more chances to win not only as Best Picture, but other categories. And here goes my opinion about A Star is Born.
The movie reveals a sad story about love, in which a couple meet each other occasionally and at the first moment one helps each other. But, as the movie goes on, we can see the successful life of the woman singer . However, the man starts going down in the dumps, with alcohol and pills abuse.
The movie plays on your emotion as it explores a love story, filled with passion and romance. Nevertheless, the guy’s weakness and the lover’s dependence/codependence gets bigger throughout the plot.
The movie makes you think about self confidence, partnership, the importance of knowing and respecting personal goals, with discernment and wisdom.
Good but not great! Even the actors performing very naturally, the main male character is too saltless. And with the dramatically sad story, it gets too hard to be so good!
If someone is going to win an award, it'll go for Lady Gaga, for her performance.
Hello, my name is Silvia and I work for Valor Econômico Newspaper.
ExcluirI agree with Elisa that A Star is Born isn't a great movie because the director uses a lot of cliches, but I think Lady Gaga has a high chance to win as Best Actress. She is very well and the song Shallow was huge success, but my bet is for Bohemian Rhapsody.
I am a Queen fan and I really enjoyed watching this film. This film was nominated for five Oscar categories, including best director and best actor. Despite the fact Rami Malek doesn’t look like Freddie Mercury, he played the role as Freddie Mercury very well and, for this reason, he was nominated for best actor. The movie is exciting and can grab the audience's attention during all time . The movie tells the story about the legendary rock and roll band Queen, focusing on Freddie Mercury's life. The movie explored the romantic relationship between the eccentric Fred Mercury and his friend Mary, revealing the other side of the rock star, showing him as a sweet and romantic guy. From band success until the Mercury's battle with HIV, the movie shows some of the memorable Queen concerts, including the performance in the Rock in Rio in Brazil. The movie soundtrack is fantastic and makes us want to sing.
To put in a nutshell, the Bohemian Rhapsody is a blockbuster film, enjoyable and it serves as great entertainment. It has a high chance to win at least one Oscar Award. It is not a heartbreaking movie , but it is a must-see for those who enjoy Queen songs.
What do you think about this movie? Has Rami Malek any chance to win an award as Best Actor?
Hello everyone, my name is Raquel and I'm an architect.
ResponderExcluirI watched Green Book and I think the story is really beautiful.
The movie, in fact, emphasizes the benevolence of friendship regardless of social and racial differences. It contributes to some reflections and encourages us to have more empathy for other people.
I think it has a good chance to win at least one Oscar Award, for example the Original Screenplay because of the true story. It is a heartbreaking, beautiful and enjoyable movie to watch.
Have you seen the movie? Did you like it? Do you agree with me?
Hello everyone,
ResponderExcluirI’m Cesar and I’m an IT Supervisor at Oswaldo Cruz Hospital.
Last year I saw Black Panther at the cinema and I think it was very nice movie, because the film is an extraordinary portrayal of fantasy. I remember the special effects and the surround sounds during the action.
The plot was interesting because it was a mix of actions that come up interconnecting the forest and cities.
I think this movie can win sound mixing award because of the variety of environments.
If you saw this movie, do you agree with my opinion? If you like fantasy genre, do you think this movie was better than the other ones (The Avengers, Spiderman, etc.)?
Hi Cesar, My name´s Mariana
ExcluirI agree with you about de Sound Mixing award for Black Panther, but I think this movie deserves to win Best Picture, although I don´t believe it will win, not just because it is a Marvel blockbuster, but also we have other great movies, like Bohimian.
I believe the Animation category will go for Disney, not for Spiderman.

ResponderExcluirHello everyone, my name is Regina and I am a psychologist.
ResponderExcluirI am going to write about The Favourite which I watched last week. I liked the way the direction was made, it means, the way the camera was angled so that we could feel the characters. I was impacted by the story, the relationship with the Queen and the servants, the manipulation and the greed to maintain the power, once it is a true story. I think Olivia Colman played very nicely and deserves the Oscar for her performance.
Speaking of performance I also watched Van Gogh – At Eternity´s gate, and the actor, Willem Dafoe, who is on the list for the Best Leading Role, did a nice job too.
I agree with Josy and Mariana about the film Roma, it shows the living way of a family in Mexico and the relationship between them and the girl, who works in the house. The camera focuses on her movement and on the scenarios and this way the director did help us to “feel inside” and to better understand the context and the personal dramas. He also emphasizes the life of the girl leading us to think about her as a person, not only as a servant, with her personal problems too. I liked the story, but I don't think it will win the prize.
Let´s see the results on Sunday!
